Zinc selenide is yellow to red in appearance with a melting point of >1,100°C, a density of 5.42 g/cc, and a vapor pressure of 10-4 Torr at 660°C. It is heavily used as an infrared optical material. It is evaporated under vacuum for infrared optical coatings, more specifically, night vision optical coatings.
Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) specializes in producing high purity evaporation materials with high quality for use in semiconductor, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) display and optical applications. The unique synergy between our engineering, manufacturing and analytical teams has allowed us to produce industry leading evaporation materials.
Various shapes, such as tablets, granules, rods and wires are available. Customized forms and quantity are also available upon request. SAM also provides evaporation sources, boats, filaments, crucibles and heaters, and e-beam crucible liners.

Here’s What I Really Think
I bought it for our lab project in two weeks and expect it to do well.
